Mohun Bagan Athletic Club, which is the national football club of India, is playing their farewell year in I-League. The Club has been bought out by the RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group and will be participating in ISL from next year. The RP-Sanjeev Goenka Group already owns a franchise in the ISL, which is named Athletico De Kolkata. Both the teams will be merged next year and will play in only ISL (Indian Soccer League). The ISL is a private League owned by Reliance Group, whereas the I-League is conducted by All India Football Federation. Mohun Bagan has already won the 2019-20 League. Their nearest rival is 13 points behind them, with only 04 matches to play.

The unhappy part for Mohun Bagan is that they will have to play the rest of the matches in closed stadium to prevent Corona Virus spreads. It is the die hard fans who are the biggest supporters for the footballers. Cutting them off from the stadiums, will make a completely different atmosphere, to play in a silent stadium. It will be more similar to a practice session than an actual match day. Also for the fact that since they are already assured of the Championship Trophy, they can play the last 04 matches with a free mind. One of the four matches is against their arch rivals East Bengal. Mohun Bagan would have loved their fans to pour it on East Bengal fans on the match day, as Mohun Bagan are already I League Champions.

The players always wait for such situations. They would have been playing an inconsequential match against their arch rivals, in front of club supporters. The spread of CoronaVirus badly denied them the chance to play the match of their lives, against their arch rivals.
